After becoming an RN with an associate’s degree, Ibrahim Thabet said, “I felt that my journey was not complete. I decided to continue my education at Upstate Medical University because of the school's rich tradition of prestige.

I could not have imagined an easier transition.” Ibrahim achieved his goal of becoming a Nurse Practitioner by earning his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the College of Nursing.

Master's Degree Programs For North Country Area Nurses

The College of Nursing at Upstate Medical University has expanded two of its well-received Nurse Practitioner programs in Family Psychiatric Mental Health and Family Health master's programs to a location convenient to Watertown area nurses. These full-time programs are offered at JHEC on the Jefferson Community College campus External Icon. A minimum cohort of 10 students is necessary to run the North Country program. Nurses enrolled in the master's degree program can receive certification in the following specialties:

A new two year North Country cohort will begin in Fall 2018.  The application period will open on September 1, 2017.
