- Box 2 - This box represents the amount billed by the University during the calendar year. For most students, this will include the Summer, Fall and Spring semesters. (The Spring semester is usually billed during the previous calendar year.) Since the IRS considers the entire system of SUNY schools a single entity, all SUNY colleges and Universities must report the financial information for tax credits in the same manner. It was determined by the SUNY System Administration that ALL SUNY schools would be required to report "amounts billed", which appears in Box 2 of the student's 1098-T form.
- Box 4 - This box shows any adjustments made to amount billed for a prior year.
- Box 5 - Total amount of Scholarships or Grants that were processed during the calendar year for payments to the student's cost of attendance.
Federal School Code: 002840
The tax information about enrollment is being reported to the Internal Revenue Service. Please be aware that the University is not responsible to determine if you qualify for one of the tax credits or to calculate any education credit that may be claimed.
