RMED Award for Canandaigua Hospital

This year RMED is celebrating its 25th anniversary.  Dr. Jim Greenwald (RMED Director) and Carrie Roseamelia (RMED Coordinator) are visiting long-participating RMED hospitals to present them with a commemorative award and to thank them for their dedication to the RMED program.  This picture is of Dr. Greenwald and Michael Stapleton, President/CEO of Thompson Health at the October 28th 2014 meeting of the FF Thompson Hospital Medical Staff where the award was presented.

The plaque was given to the hospital at a quarterly medical staff meeting.  In his remarks, Dr. Greenwald made special note of the contribution of Dr Robert Ostrander, a long time preceptor and now part time faculty member in the Department of Family Medicine.  Dr Greenwald noted that the hospital had hosted 17 students since 1996.  Two former students were members of the medical staff (Drs. Robert Smith and James Fennelly) and a third former student, Dr Geoffrey Ostrander was planning to return and work in his father's practice.  Mr. Stapleton mentioned the many hours of teaching provided by members of the hospital staff, the housing and scholarship support provided by the hospital, saying that this was "a relatively small investment compared to what RMED has delivered", and that he intended to continue to support the program.
