Applications are accepted from foreign citizens who have completed at least 90 semester hours of college coursework in the United States at an accredited institution. The admissions procedures are the same as US citizens. All applicants accepted to the MD/PhD Program at SUNY Upstate Medical University receive a stipend of $26,051.00 and tuition waiver, regardless of nationality.
All else being equal, priority will be given to candidates who are US citizens or permanent residents. However, non-US residents with a strong record of academic research achievement are encouraged to apply.
A English Proficiency Exam is not required (TOEFL, IELTS, etc) is not required as international applicants are already required to complete 90 semester hours of college coursework in the United States.
Upon acceptance to SUNY Upstate Medical University, our International Student Advisor, Ms. Jennifer Abbott, can assist international students who need to obtain or amend a visa to study at SUNY Upstate.
